Publish a version
Your design is a draft until you publish it. Publishing creates a numbered version (v1, v2 and so on) that never changes again. Postflows and Postbatches always use a published version, never the draft.
Publish
- In the editor, choose Publish at the top right.
- The Publish version dialog shows a checklist. Fix every blocker first: choose Review next to a problem to jump to the element.
- Check the facts: the product, the print and which Postflows use the template under Used by.
- Choose Publish.
The editor confirms with "Version 2 published", for example. You keep working on the draft; the next publish becomes the next version.
| Check | What to fix |
|---|---|
| Print area | Elements outside the page and text that overflows its box. Shorten the text, enlarge the box or let the text shrink to fit. |
| Images | Images with too low a resolution or that cannot be found. Use a larger image or place it smaller. |
| Address block | The address block must stay in the area the product allows. |
| Fonts and colours | Every font must be added to the template. |
| Data | Every field the design uses must exist under Data, and names may not clash. |
| Codes | QR codes and barcodes need a valid value. |
A version with a trackable QR code needs the QR tracking feature in your plan.
What happens to Postflows and Postbatches
- A Postflow set to Latest published uses the new version for items that become ready from now on.
- A Postflow with a Pinned version keeps its version. If pinned Postflows use the template, the dialog offers to move them to the new version from the next item.
- A Postbatch uses the version that was the latest published one when you created it. Publishing later does not change it.
Items that are already ready keep the version they were given. See Switch to a new template version.
See all versions
Open the template from Templates. The Versions list shows every published version with its date. From there you can preview each version, download a proof PDF or order a sample. See Preview and proof PDF.
Owners, Admins and Editors can publish. Owners, Admins, Editors and Approvers receive a notification when a new version is published.
Open a support ticket in the portal. Tell us what you tried and, if you can, which item or Postbatch it is about.
