When does my mail arrive?

Updated 16 October 2026 · 2 min read

A card arrives some days after its production run hands the mail to PostNL. So the delivery date depends on which run your card joins, and on how long PostNL needs for that product.

How the date is worked out

Each production run has a cutoff and a handover week: the week in which the printed mail goes to PostNL. PostBuddy expects delivery from the Monday of the handover week plus the delivery time of the product. That date is shown as Expected delivery from.

StepWhat it means for timing
Ready before the cutoffThe card joins that run.
Ready after the cutoffThe card waits for the next run.
Handover weekThe week the printed mail goes to PostNL.
Expected delivery fromThe handover Monday plus the delivery time of the product.

Where you see it

If your plan includes the production run schedule:

  • A Postbatch shows the Next run cutoff and Expected delivery from under View quote, and lets you choose a later run when you approve.
  • A Postflow shows the next cutoff and handover week in the Print and send step and on the Activity tab.
  • The dashboard shows the next production run.

Without it, the portal does not show run dates. Your cards go with the next run, and the item statuses show how far they are.

Aim for a date

Give an item a send date: the date you want the card to arrive. PostBuddy picks the latest run that still delivers on or before that date, so the card does not arrive too early. If no run can make it in time, the card goes with the next run and gets the warning late_delivery_expected. See Choose when items are sent.

For a campaign around a fixed date, such as a store opening, give the items a send date, or pick the run yourself when you approve the Postbatch.

Follow a card

Open an item to see its progress: Received, Ready to print, Scheduled or In production, and Sent. Completed means the run is complete and the mail is with PostNL.

PostBuddy does not receive a delivery confirmation per card from PostNL, so the portal cannot show the day a specific card was delivered.
